All about hurricanes old and new
What is a hurricane? A hurricane is a huge storm with a violent wind. How does a hurricane start? First of all the water has to be warm enough (80 degrees Fahrenheit) at the surface so there is enough heat and moisture into the atmosphere to give the hurricane the energy it needs. Combined with the atmosphere's sea water ( from evaporation) and the heat there is enough energy to give a hurricane its power. Also there needs to be a wind pattern that spirals inward,and thunderclouds form allowing the air to warm further and rise higher in the atmosphere.
