Google’s new app Crowdsource asks users to help with translation, transcription & more

A new Google application called Crowdsource has quietly appeared on Google Play, asking users to perform brief tasks that will help improve the quality of Google services like Maps, translation, image transcription, and more. The app, surprisingly, doesn’t offer any sort of rewards or micropayments in exchange for users’ work, however – which means it won’t be much of a threat to distributed workforce platforms like Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, for example.

Here’s what you missed in today’s Snapchat’s update

The headliner of today’s Snapchat update was undoubtedly geofilters. Unless you’re a design whiz, creating geofilters previously was best left to the professionals. Sadly, you’ll have to create them from Snapchat’s Web tool, not the app itself, but it’s a good start.

Snapchat just deleted its (Facebook) account

Today, Snapchat unpublished its official Facebook Page. While we were unable to secure an on-the-record quote, it seems that the move was simply one spurred by lack of interest. The last time the Page had been updated was August 2013. After failing to update a Page for two years, it’s easy to see why the company lost interest.
