Visitors have the opportunity of witnessing seals, polar bears, dolphins, and penguins. Everyone loves koalas. These fluffy and adorable creatures are friendly and it is a real treat to interact them. The best place to interact with koalas while in Queensland is none other than the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Located in close proximity to the Oaks Calypso Plaza, this sanctuary us recognizes by the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest and oldest koala sanctuary in the world. The sanctuary is home to over 130 koalas, as well as kangaroos, lorikeets, sheep, and many other amazing creatures. Established in 1951 for the purpose of conserving the wildlife of Gold Coast, the David Fleay Wildlife Park is one of the most exciting nature attractions of Gold Coast. Located near Burleigh Head, this wildlife park is home to hundreds of some Gold Coast's most popular species of fauna, including platypuses, emus, dingoes, crocodiles, koala bears, bilbies, dunnarts, and kangaroos. A visit to the park is both exciting and educational as you will learn a lot about these fascinating creatures while also interacting with them. Another interesting feature about the park is that it is close proximity to the beautiful Tallebudgera Creek, which is perfect for a serene walk along.
Although not an attraction per se, whale watching in Gold Coast is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences the region has to offer. Gold Coast has many Whale Watching tour companies with experienced captains and guides who will take you to the routes commonly travelled by Blue Whales so that you can see, first hand, how these gentle giants of the waters breach the surface playfully and a make a large splash while at it. The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary really is one of the best places to go to spend the day amidst nature. The sanctuary is set on a large estate and is home to hundreds of animals. At the sanctuary, you will get to touch and pet a koala, feed a kangaroo, watch sheep being sheared, and watch bird shows too! Those of you who are interested in Aboriginal culture will find the many didgeridoo and dancers shows to their delight, while the sportier visitors can try their hand at the grueling Adventure Parc High Ropes Course; a tree-top rope course with 80 challenges! The whole family is sure to enjoy spending the day at this amazing sanctuary.
