The Lowdown

The historic Muslim Street in the Chinese city of Xi'an has a rich past with vendors, students and travellers who made it here from Arabia, Persia and many other Asian countries for their trading. The market is divided in between two roads that look like the shape of an L when converged. The walk down this market would take you close to two hours. There are some amazingly designed buildings that can be seen on the Muslim Street, some of which even date back to many centuries. The Hanguang Gate is one of the marvels that you must not miss witnessing that comes from the Tang Dynasty. Some of the other stunning architectural wonders to be discovered here include the Taoist City God Temple, Grand Mosque and the Niching Gate Tower Cluster. These buildings reflect diverse architectural design patterns and tell you about the colourful history Xi'an is known for as one of the prominent cultural crossroads.
