Top Shopping Malls in Kuala Lumpur – The Best Retail Experiences in KL

With more than eight major shopping malls found in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, it comes as no surprise as to why many shopaholics have shifted to KL as their shopping destination.

1

Pavillion Kuala Lumpur Shopping Mall

This is well known as the shopping hotspot of Kuala Lumpur. The gigantic glitzy shopping mall prominently stands out from the rest of the city's mallscape occupying prime real estate along Jalan Bukit Bintang. Pavillion Kuala Lumpur Mall has three major sections which are the retail mall, office block and two residential towers. The mall is a classic example of how extravagant a mall can be in maintaining the fast moving trend of the city's fashionistas. The humongous 1.37 million sqft white marble laid complex is a combination of both indoor and outdoor shopping venues resembling an oversized Grecian temple with postmodern pillars housing over 450 departmental stores. It offers plenty of trendy restaurants for dining and snacking with big-box retailers providing access to both international and local designer labels and local speciality retailers.

2

Suria KLCC

This is an impressive towering six storey building based at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers in KL city centre that was built in 1999 soon becoming the hotspot and talk of the town because of introducing a brand new level of style and glamour to the city with a dynamic range of haute couture departmental stores. It is compared to Manhattan's Barney's and Saks Fifth Avenue. The mall has ventured from the common concepts of shopping malls by having its tourist attractions such as Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains, an oceanarium and science discovery centre targeted for kids. It is also the home to the Dewan Filharmonik Orkestra and the Petronas Art Gallery.

Suria KLCC is separated into three sections which are Ampang Mall, Park Mall and the brand new Ramlee Mall dedicated for upmarket luxury shopping with luxury labels and brands such as Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren.

3

Mid Valley Mega Mall

Proud to be ranked as one of the largest shopping malls in whole of Southeast Asia, Mid Valley Shopping Mall is also Klang Valley's most popular shopping attraction giving the shiny 1Utama complex a major run for its money. It is situated within close range to Bangsar. The colossal megamall covers an area of 4.5 million sqft comprised with a shopping mall, an office tower block, 30 signature offices and two hotels. Mid Valley Mega Mall was honoured with the Best Shopping Complex Award 2000 by Tourism Malaysia and Best Retail Development Award 2001 by FIABCI Malaysia.

4

Starhill Gallery Kuala Lumpur

This high-end shopping mall consisting of seven storeys offers the best luxury retail experience. The unique architectural design of the structure makes it a landmark and an iconic mall in KL that can be conveniently reached if you are staying at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur such as Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral. This is one of those top class glamorous places where you would be almost afraid to touch things that are for sale due to its pricy super luxury nature. The radiant interior of this glitzy mall is rich with ambient lighting, soft jazz music playing in the background and completely carpeted floors. The service offered by the smiling smarty clad doormen in the waiting to usher you into your preferred stores is beyond the likes of an exclusive butler service.
