Top Surf Spots around Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort

Uluwatu Bali is well known for its excellent surfing potential. There are plenty of spots where the perfect break for professionals, intermediates and beginners are found. The best are listed below.

1

Most Famous Wave - Uluwatu

Most Famous Wave - Uluwatu

Located right at the foot of the Anantara Bali surf resort along the Bukit Peninsula this surfing spot is reached via a cave located at the base of the Blue Point Hotel. This is a long left hander wave that is able to take on any swell size; best of all it is very consistent. The wave however is best handled by professionals and is not one for beginners since the wave relies on the tide and tends to have strong currents. Professionals can look forward to barrels at the peak of the wave and Speeds of the Racetrack which end in thrilling multiple barrels at the end.

2

Padang-Padang

Padang-Padang

Located just five minutes from the breaks of Uluwatu Padang Padang is famous for offering the islands heaviest waves. This is a short left hand break that depends on a large swell to perform well. If you like big resounding barrels do take on the breaks at Padang Padang. Favoured by professional surfers from across the world, surfing here comes with its fair share of danger for swells can sometimes break close to the jagged reef.

3

The Impossibles

The Impossibles

If you are not seasoned enough to handle the likes of Uluwatu or Padang Padang take on the milder Impossibles which is found at the base of the Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort. The swell size and direction of the waves here are erratic while the rather long left hander relies on a large swell to give the best thrills. Hope for a big swell which offers endless walls for you to skim across while the swell has two take off points at the top and bottom of the wave. The best part is this beach is much less crowded than Uluwatu and quite a treat to enjoy.

4

Bingin

Bingin

Perfect barrels that are clear and open to surf are what make Bingin a favoured surfing spot. It is located just past Padang-Padang and is often described as being sharp, shallow and short.

5

Dreamland

Dreamland

Ideal for body boarders as well as long boarders Dreamland is perfect for intermediates and beginners. You have a choice at Dreamland where the left side of the beach offers an A-Frame wave and the right a Beach Break Wave that veers to the left. It is ideal for beginners since the currents are not very strong and your chances of ending up on the jagged reef are minute.

6

Balangan Beach

Balangan Beach

This too is a left hander wave located along the Bukit Peninsula. There are two angles to this wave where at one point it is sluggish with a faster section on the other end. Depending on the size of the swell these two sections merge but only if the swell is big. Due to the slow breaks Balangan is ideal for beginners and intermediates.
