Abu Dhabi is a haven of tourist activities. Even if you have been there several times, you will still come across something you have not done in Abu Dhabi.
This is well known as one of the world's largest mosques. If you have not yet had the chance to go there, the mosque is astonishingly large. Its large space accommodates 40,000 worshippers. The mosque has about 1000 columns. As you enter the main prayer hall, you will be able to set sights upon a large chandelier. If you happen to visit Abu Dhabi during Ramadan period, the mosque will be open daily except for Fridays. The best time probably to visit the mosque is during sunset. The setting sun rays touch the mosque offering you a picturesque opportunity.
Abu Dhabi is well known for family desert camp safari. You will realise why when you reach a Bedouin camp. If you settle down somewhere like Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara, you will be able to consult a guide and get things arranged. The camp expedition includes a dune bashing adventure, sandboarding, and souvenir photos. Your children will also have a lot of activities awaiting. Although a little pricey, you can go for a quad bike experience. The desert camp safari will be a memorable one complete with a yummy barbecue.
If you are interested in Abu Dhabi's heritage aspect, the Heritage Village is the ideal place to visit. There you will be greeted by the real desert life which includes tending to campfires, using the falaj irrigation system and sleeping in goat hair tents. And the craftsmen will surprise you with their indigenous talents in pottery, metalwork, weaving and spinning. Ask them anything, and these craftsmen will willingly enlighten you about the village and their lifestyle. They will go an extra mile by letting you try out their artisan work. Walk a few metres and you will find a small kiosk that sells herbs and spices which are uniquely Arabic. If you have no idea how to visit this village, the helpdesks of most Sir Bani Yas Island Hotels should be happy to help out their guests and will likely offer to arrange transport, as the Heritage Village is close to most of these hotels.
When you travel 45 kilometres south from Abu Dhabi, you will spot these houses surrounding 200 cars. It is, in fact, a collection of vehicles belonging to Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamadan Al Nahyan. The collection includes off-road as well as classic American cars. The whole collection stands out as an open national auto museum.
Abu Dhabi is not short of malls. But Abu Dhabi mall is the most popular of them all. Its several floors are home to world famous brands. The mall is ideal if you are looking for air conditioning whenever you are tired of walking outside. The mall would not only appease all your shopping desires, but it would also take care of your hunger with its number of eateries. This is another place you should visit before leaving Abu Dhabi.
