AFTER RAGHURAM RAJAN ??? List of Short Listed Candidates for Next RBI Governor of India

The government has narrowed down to four its list of candidates to be the next governor of the Reserve Bank of India for the post-economical period of Raghuram Rajan - Present Governor. The list include 2 former Deputy Governors, Present Deputy Governor and one is the head of India's largest Public Sector Bank.

Rakesh Mohan is an Indian economist and former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India. He is the Vice Chairperson of Indian Institute for Human Settlements. He was appointed in November 2012 as an Executive Director of the IMF for a three-year term, and in April 2010, he joined Nestle India, as a non-executive director.

Subir Vithal Gokarn, was one of the four Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank of India along with Anand Sinha, K. C. Chakrabarty and H. R. Khan. He has been replaced by Urjit Patel as of January 2013.

Appointed by the Government Of India on 19 November 2009 for a three year term beginning 24 November 2009,he succeeded Rakesh Mohan after the latter took up an assignment for six months and joined the Stanford Center for International Development at Stanford University, US.
