Exploration, in history or language arts class, of the various positions on slavery leading up to the Civil War, particularly those of abolitionists such as

The International School for Holocaust Studies

This lesson plan highlights selected excerpts from the diaries of five Jewish children who lived and perished during the Holocaust. Through these diary entries, we will focus on the pre-war lives of the children and their encounters with Nazi occupation. In addition, their responses to anti-Jewish policies, including the “badge of shame”, aryanization and ghettoization. This lesson plan includes discussion questions as well as primary source materials, and is suitable for social studies and language arts.

Problem Solving Lesson Plan: The Quandary Game | BrainPOP Educators

In this problem solving lesson plan for grades 6-12, students use a free online game called Quandary to practice ethics, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Overview

This lesson uses five stories from Stories to Light Our Way: Journey to the World of Good Volume 1, written by Ralph Singh. After being split into groups, the students will read the assigned story, identify the theme or moral, and create/perform a play while the remaining students evaluate their performance. The group will then debrief by discussing the lessons, applying them to real life circumstances and situations. This will generate potential reactions that are appropriate and that represent good character that the children can choose if they become witness to, or involved in, one of these situations in the future.
