Heading out to fabulous Hong Kong with your kids does not mean you drag them around on endless shopping sprees; instead the country offers a range of interesting attractions enjoyable to young nus.
There is no better way to pacify your kids than to cater to their fussy taste buds. Dim Sum is a firm favourite and at city hall your family will be given the opportunity to try out some old favourites as well as modern twists; aimed at pleasing young palates. Of course the age old favourite fried rice too is served in case your child is a fussy eater, but do take along the kids and encourage them to try out some of the delights such as steamed meatballs and hargrow – shrimp dumplings, rainbow jelly squares and miniature egg tarts which will prove to be quite a hit. If you have older kids who like a bit of adventure order some exotic jellyfish and chicken feet to awe. You could also head out to Lamma Island for the delicious seafood and invigorating hike across the island, which is enjoyable to all members of the family.
Victoria's Peak is home to a variety of entertainment. There is a Madame Tussauds plus a variety of game arcades where older children can be kept occupied with electric arts games. You will also love the panoramic views from the summit of the peak, dining at the lovely restaurants and riding the vintage tram which is complete with squeaks and creaks.
Disneyland Hong Kong is quite a unique attraction in the sense it has an exotic Asian twist to it. For instance there's a Chinese restaurant sitting next to Mickey Mouse's house serving utterly delicious steamed custard buns, incorporation of an Asian section on the route of It's a Small World Ride and acknowledgment of the Great Wall and Mulan during the famous fireworks display. Ocean Park too is a great attraction boasting dolphin shows, gondola rides across the mountain and a house panda. Kids will love the baby choo choo train and adrenaline rush of the 'roller coaster'.
Travelling in Hong Kong is quite an adventure; you can opt to choose either boat, train or fun double decker. Heading out to Causeway Bay for some shopping will prove to be quite an adventure for young kids especially if you take the ferry. Look for a Hong Kong hotel that is well placed for easy access to transport and attractions. Bordering Causeway Bay and Wan Chai the Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong is close to the Star Ferry access point. The Star Ferry is a popular tour operator that takes you to Kowloon for enjoying the light show and scenic walks along the water's edge. Star Ferry which has been in operation since 1880 also provides tourists with tours of the harbor. Kids will love travelling on the electric tram – double decker - which moving at a very slow pace along the water front of Hong Kong Island gives you and the kids enough allowance to experience the sights.
