21st Century 7th-Grade Learners

The lesson plans within this curation all focus on the 8 skills that will be needed by 21st century learners.

This lesson focuses on the first skill of 21st century learners, leadership. The plan contains many ten minute leadership lessons that can be implemented at the beginning of a class period. Each ten minute lesson plan is intended to help students understand, internalize, and use a variety of important leadership concepts, skills, and ideas.

This lesson focuses on the second skill of 21st century learners, digital literacy. In this lesson, students will focus on understanding how to search the internet appropriately. Essentially, students are provided with one of the key ideas of begin digitally literate. Students will learn that directory sites with alphabetical listings offer one way to find things on the Internet.

This lesson focuses on the third skill of 21st century learners, communication. In this lesson, students will understand that they have a digital footprint and everything they do while using online sources can be viewed by an invisible audience. Students will see that they may take control over their digital footprint based on what they post.

This lesson focuses on the forth skill of 21st century learners, emotional intelligence. Although not a true lesson plan, this site provides numerous resources and activities for teaching students about emotions. The emotional and social skills that presented were written to help students grow.

This lesson focuses on the fifth skill of 21st century learners, entrepreneurship. In this lesson, students will understand what an entrepreneur is and the important traits and skills entrepreneurs have. Students will view the stories of real life entrepreneurs and how they became successful.

Global Citizenship Lesson Plan

This lesson focuses on the sixth skill of 21st century learners, global citizenship. The lesson provides and overview of what global citizenship is and how to be a good global citizen. This site provides links to the actual lesson plan, activities, and teacher notes.

This lesson focuses on the seventh skill of 21st century learners, problem solving. In the lesson, students the technological problem solving method and be able to apply this method to real life problems.

This lesson focuses on the eighth skill of 21st century learning, team work. In the lesson, students will understand the benefits of working in collaborative groups and how working with others can be applied to the real world.
