At the Chinese Dragon boat festival their are 2 traditions that must be preformed. The boats have to be awoken and blessed before the race. Four days before the festival the boats are taken and the head and tails are added onto them. A blessing ritual is done and then the ceremony is after that. This involves burning paper bills in front of the boats then chanting rituals to the heavenly Gods. The rituals are supposed to make the dragons strong in order to complete the race.
