How Is the Chinese Calendar Different From the Western One? | eHow

I recommend this website because it tells you about the Chinese calendar compared to the western one and how to culculate it. Another thing that I found under the topic Chinese New Year is that they celebrate their new year between the 21 of January and the 21 of February. Also the Chinese calendar follows the moon while the Western one follows the sun.

Chinese have specific animals that represent your characteristics. The animals are determined by which year you were born. Which animal are you? I was born in 2003 making me the sheep. All sheep are supposed to avoid wearing the colors green, black and blue yet these are the colour of our uniforms. Did you also know that the dragon is the enemy of the sheep and that the sheep and the Tigers are the most unlucky zodiac signs and they have no competition. Perhaps that why they are the richest people in the world!

At the Chinese Dragon boat festival their are 2 traditions that must be preformed. The boats have to be awoken and blessed before the race. Four days before the festival the boats are taken and the head and tails are added onto them. A blessing ritual is done and then the ceremony is after that. This involves burning paper bills in front of the boats then chanting rituals to the heavenly Gods. The rituals are supposed to make the dragons strong in order to complete the race.
