The Australian data exchange startup Data Republic Pty. Ltd. has raised $10.5 million from the venture arms of two banks and an airline, the Sydney-based company announced today.
Qantas Airways Ltd.’s Qantas Loyalty fund, the National Australia Bank’s NAB Ventures and Westpac Banking Corp.’s ReInventure Fund, managed by Data Republic cofounder Danny Gilligan, are participating in the two-year-old company’s Series A round. To date Data Republic had raised a little under $2 million from Australian investors, including Westpac.

A Sydney startup offering a platform that allows companies and government to share data securely has scored a $10.5 million investment from some big corporate players.
Qantas, NAB and Westpac have all taken a piece of Sydney tech startup Data Republic as part of the company’s Series A round worth $10.5 million.
All three of the new investors will become strategic partners for Data Republic, which enables companies and government organisations to exchange data in a secure environment.
The investment is Qantas’ first in a tech startup, and also the first by NAB ventures, the bank’s VC fund which was established last year.
