Here is a list of important resources for the 8th Grade Physical Science Curriculum (Atoms and The Periodic Table). This curation was created to provide 8th Grade Physical Science students with additional engaging resources to support their learning. Materials gathered are structured to provide resources for students of all learner groups to research using appropriate websites. Images, videos, interactive websites and articles were selected from a survey of student's interest about various things in science. Quizlet provides ELL and struggling readers the option of having key vocabulary terms read to them, includes relatable images, and the ability to use gaming while they learn.
Students are encouraged to take notes, have discussions about their research of the curation activities, and think of ways they may want to use curated tools in our class. Students are also encouraged to share their learning with others in the community.

Scientists have now confirmed the existence of a new element, No. 115 on the periodic table, by slamming atoms into each other. Wow, can you say Nuclear reaction? This articles provides students with information on the newest element confirmed by scientist. Students will gain a better understanding of this "super-heavy element" and how it was formed.
This is the worlds smallest heat engine where calcium ion is both piston and working gas. Amazing stuff! Students have an opportunity to read how atoms may be used in a real-word example to create a heat engine.

The definitive online periodic table reference site including technical data, and photographs and descriptions of thousands of samples of the chemical elements. This great website allows students to interact with the periodic table to research interesting facts. I absolutely love the Elements book.
Physical Science terms such as, Atoms and Periodic Table. This site includes study materials in the form of games and tools such as flashcards. Quizlet provides students with an opportunity to use online flashcards to practice key vocabulary terms. This website is great for ELL students as well.
