Fastbraces are a form of teeth straightening treatment that are rapidly increasing in popularity as they can achieve great results in a much quicker time than traditional braces and discreet teeth straightening treatments such as Invisalign, ceramic braces and lingual braces. We have put together a list of the facts on Fastbraces.
Typically, traditional braces, invisalign and other discreet braces take a minimum of 18 months and more commonly 2 years to achieve the desired results. Fastbraces can straighten teeth in a matter of weeks or months rather than years. If the patient responds well to treatment, a complete Fastbraces plan can usually be completed in around 20 weeks.
Whilst other orthodontic treatments move the teeth in 2 stages, moving the crown of the teeth first, followed by the roots, Fastbraces are designed to move the crowns and roots at the same time. This means that the teeth start moving towards the desired position right from the start of treatment.
As with other orthodontic treatments, Fastbraces plans are completely customised to best suit the individual patient. At an initial consultation, in order to decide on the best treatment plan, a dentist will take detailed radiographs and digital images of the patient’s teeth.
Whilst any braces can cause discomfort when first applied to the teeth, patients soon get used to Fastbraces. Whilst some people avoid orthodontic treatment due to common myths about pain, Fastbraces use lower frictional forces, leading to a clear reduction in friction and pain. The resulting pain of treatment is usually no more than a mild discomfort from time to time.
Once a treatment plan is complete, patients can benefit from straighter teeth and feel confident in their smile. Whilst some people worry that Fastbraces don’t provide permanent results due to the speed that they work at, this is proven to be false. To retain the results of treatment, patients are advised to wear their custom designed retainers at night, or for 20 minutes a day.
