Bangkok is a shopping destination for all. There are the chic designer boutiques offering international brands while stepping into the street markets the budget shopper in you is well satisfied.
Central World is ranked as the 6th largest shopping centre in the world. It is Bangkok's definitive shopping destination boasting a total of 7 floors. The many wings of this gigantic shopping destination are chock full of alluring stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. There is even a wing where expensive sports cars are sold within the mall. Each of the seven floors are devoted to specific themes, such as kids items, men, women, electronics and a special iStudio for apple products. There are two department stores within Central World; the Isetan and Zen. Central World is also home to Bangkok's largest sports shop and an irresistible gourmet market that's chock full of the most delicious food. In terms of entertainment the mall does not disappoint for it is equipped with an ice skating rink and a 3D cinema.
Siam Paragon sits next to Central World and is interconnected via a walkway bridge; the walk may take around 10 minutes unless you take the sky train. On the ground floor of this mall is a splendid food court home to international restaurant chains. There is also a large supermarket stocking favourite food items from around the world. The designer and branded stores are also located on the ground floor; these consist of Chanel, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Armani and Marc Jacobs; Ferrari and Lamborghini cars too are available at this mall. Other retail stores less pricey and well worth a browse are recognised chains such as Mango, Topshop, Zara, H&M, Massimo Duty and more. Kinokuniya the best English bookstore in Bangkok is also located within Siam Paragon.
Siam Centre is located next to Central World and Siam Paragon; however it is not as large as the former two. You are treated to a good collection of retail stores and a rather large food court. Treat yourself to the delights of MAC, DKNY, Armani Exchange, Sephora, Victoria's Secret and much more. Now if you are already planning a major shopping spree in Bangkok consider the immense comfort and convenience offered at luxury Bangkok resorts. Look for one that lets you sit back and release the tiredness a full day of shopping, treat yourself with both shopping and accommodation by looking for well-located Bangkok hotels. The Chao Phraya River, along which the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort sits, is an excellent destination when looking for accommodation as the soothing ambiance and lush gardens surrounding this area are highly conducive for relaxing mind body and soul.
Siam Discovery is a great mall for designer shopping, much smaller in proportion to the main two malls of Bangkok; Siam Discovery is home to stores by French Connection, Miss Sixty, Marc Jacobs, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Fred Perry and Kenneth Cole. The place is also full of some pretty good salons if you need a revamp while the concept stores offer loads of decorative ideas for your home. There is also a Madame Tussauds at this mall.
MBK was once known as Mabhookkrong and was established way back in 1985; it is one of the oldest malls in Asia. The mall is home to many Thai branded stores and is a big hit amongst young Thai women and girls. Sizes are unfortunately of a petite size; hence the popularity amongst the young Thai's. However clothing apart MBK is ideal for buying state-of-the-art electronics and is dedicated to stocking the latest in hi tech gadgetry including apple products.
