The FOUR Elements of a Modern Warrior

Here are what we consider the four primary elements of a modern day warrior. It is our mantra that if you continue to build on these four pillars you will be best suited as a Modern Warrior! For those of you that know us at OGC the answer should come as no surprise, for those of you that don't we hope you gain a new perspective from it. We also would truly like to hear your feedback as well.

If this material interest you then you may very well enjoy attending our "Prepared Mindset Seminar" (If you would like to request one in your local area please let us know and we will consider it)

1

Fitness

Fitness

Fitness is a very important part of a modern warriors holistic approach. Some absolutely love keeping fit while others may dread the task. Regardless of your personal emotion for the endeavor it cannot be denied that it is absolutely relevant, and one that is unfortunately overlooked by many. In reality fitness can come in all different forms. A great approach is to find a way to incorporate it into your life and preferably by doing something you enjoy. Typically you'll be more inclined to stick with a program if you enjoy it, this becomes essential as we hit plateaus in our progress. It is very common for individuals to slack off or quit altogether when they hit plateaus (this is a common challenge for personal trainers with their clients), and you will hit plateaus. When you actually enjoy journey as well as the destination you're much more likely to reach it. Bottom line is that no matter what your age or physical condition it's never to late to start moving towards a more fit you. Start TODAY!

Preparation

Preparation

Preparation is as well a critical element of a modern day warrior. With the popularity of Prepper Shows and Hollywood's chosen portrayal of the lifestyle an image like the one here may very well be the stereotype that comes to your mind when you hear the term prepper. In reality everyone is a prepper to one extent or another. If you wear a seat belt when you get in a vehicle you're prepping (ie. you are taken measures to mitigate a possible (even unlikely) scenario). The question really becomes at what level should I prepare? That question you have to weigh and determine yourself. As a rule we (Omega Group Consultants) profess that you should be as prepared as possible. This approach simply means that you follow a simple methodology taught in our Comprehensive Situational Control Course Knowledge & Awareness leads to Recognition leads to Avoidance and/or Recovery. Although in a different context here (than the course) the formula is essentially the same. You should be or become aware of the potential threats you could face, recognize various aspects of them (probability, effects, etc.) , and set in measures and procedures to eliminate or mitigate them as feasible. If you begin incorporating this simple principle into your life you'll be a lot less likely to be surprised by unwanted events and more likely to act more appropriately. Essentially you'll be prepared!

Survival

Survival

At the base level of the word, survival is kind of an obvious element of being a warrior. By all means you should know how to survive, however that goes a little deeper than most probably assume at the surface. Our courses under Survival centered around Wilderness survival and that is for sure one aspect of this element, but it is far from all to be considered. Much more than just wilderness or primitive survival you should be equipped (or actively learning) to survive in every environment and circumstance you could possibly encounter. This encompasses situations like an Active Shooter, Hostage, Loss of Income, etc... Basically you should be psychologically and physically prepared to deal with the curve balls life may throw your way. An excellent way to do this is through personal education and experience as well as structured training such as our High Risk Training Programs etc..

4

Tactics

Tactics

Tactic is defined as an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific end. It should be relatively obvious why Tactics would be a part of a warriors core knowledge. We will always fare better when prepared for the task at hand rather than winging it on the fly. This goes for most things in life, but is especially critical during a crisis. Whether its a choking child, a home invasion, or you find yourself lost in an austere environment. The better you are tactically prepared to deal with the situation the more likely you are to have a positive outcome. This is accomplished by putting in the effort to learn and train. Unfortunately you see many in the world disillusioned by a false sense of security through merely purchasing an item. Take for instance a firearm, it will likely do you no good and may even make things much worse if you are inadequately trained to utilize it. Merely owning some garden seeds does not mean I'm a gardener. Spend the time and effort to become proficient and you'll reap the rewards of your labor should you ever need to employ the skill.

By now you have likely noticed that the four elements of warriordom overlap and blend well together. This is not by coincidence but rather a deliberate 360 degree holistic approach. The end result is a well prepared and well trained Modern Day Warrior. For more information about us, our training and excellent articles relating to these four pillars please visit our site HERE.
