Of course if you are the likes of APPLE you can design your visual Brand (logo + corporate identity) and then spend zillions to persuade people to associate your products with your brand identity. Most start ups and small biz might have a better use for their limited funds :-)

It's important to aim high and define how your brand will make a material difference to the lives of those you touch. There's enough me-too; you need a BHAG.
It is critical to distill down and encapsulate everything you, a company, product or service stands for in order to simplify your brand so it communicates powerfully and effectively.
