In the period from May to September, when the trade winds blow, Bird Island becomes filled with a myriad of sooty terns that arrive here to lay their eggs. Bird Island also supports populations of creatures such as fairy terns, lesser noddies, fodies, tropic birds, wimbrels and plovers. Bird Island also boasts remarkable marine life such as green and hawksbill turtles, playful dolphins and sometimes even whales.
