Things to do in Copenhagen

Days out and things to do with kids in and around Copenhagen, Denmark

Tivoli Gardens

Tivoli Gardens amusement park in central Copenhagen offers rides, games, musicals, ballet, and major concerts.

Boat tours

Copenhagen is a maritime city, surrounded by water and charming canals. Rest your feet and enjoy the views of the city from a boat.

Tower Playground, Fælledparken

Children in Copenhagen now have an extraordinary playground. In Fælledparken Østerbro the Tower Playground has risen, built around five of Copenhagen's most notable towers: Our Savior's Church, City Hall, Round Tower, the Marble Church and the Exchange Tower.Besides being something of a rarity, the playground is also something special in the way it encourages to interactive play, using technology and a twist of competing. If you were a politician...Among the many things children can play here is electronic tag over the roofs, solve a puzzle in the Round Tower or talk like a politician from the Town Hall Tower. The playground is a real 'Copenhagen space', where children can learn about the historical facts about the city's iconic towers.Staffed building The playground has a manned building that is open from 10:00- 15:30. Here you can eat your lunch, and from April to October you can lend balls, stuff to the sandbox and more. Outside the building there are tables, benches and an opportunity to grill in the evening sun.

Traffic Playground, Fælledparken

The traffic playground is a public playground with a “kid-sized” traffic town where children learn to move in a safe environment. The playground is staffed during business hours and children can borrow go-carts, pedal vehicles with trailers and small bikes. The children are also welcome to bring their own bikes, roller skates and scooters.

For younger children (2-5 years), there is a small, fenced traffic lane where the little ones can borrow carts, tricycles and bicycles with trailers. Furthermore, the playground has a garage with go-carts, which are intended for children between 5 and 14 years. In the classroom, children can receive classroom teaching.

Skydebanehaven (aka The Parrot Park)

Hidden away from busy streets, hustle and bustle, you will find Skydebanehaven; a combined park and playground, which is perfect for fun and games.

Bornholm

The sunniest place in Denmark and the summer holiday destination. This quaint little island, just a 3-hour train & ferry trip from Copenhagen, has loads to keep children of all ages amused, plus fantastic food and gorgeous beaches.

Experimentarium City

Experimentarium City

A fun family day out with an educational twist. Blow giant bubbles, drive a crane, get a brain scan and much more. Then go get lunch from Copenhagen Street Food next door. The Experimentarium is only in this location until Sept 2016, before it moves back to its permanent base in Hellerup.

Frederiksberg Gardens

Beautiful place to explore on a summer's day. There is a small playground, with snakes & dragons, and row boat trips. If you're lucky, the elephants at the zoo will be out to play and you can watch them from the viewing platform. A perfect place for a picnic, but there is also the lovely Cafe Funder at the main entrance and Cafe Bonbon (and it's ice cream shop!) at the top entrance.

In the winter, the hill is one of the best places in the city for sledging, and there is an ice skating rink at the main entrance.
