A crowd puller year round, Unawatuna hosts exciting parties and boasts plenty of delicious seafood making it one of those must-visit beaches in Sri Lanka. The epitome of shallow beaches however is Passikudah which is yet again located in the East of the island. Trincomalee has one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Sri Lanka and it is known for its characteristic powdery white sands giving it a picture perfect appearance. Significantly shallow and free of large waves, Trincomalee's crystal clear waters are very appealing and is perfectly safe for those interested in dipping in these waters with children. The beach is also in close proximity to Pigeon Island which has a stunning collection of corals making it a popular spot for snorkelling.
