The beautiful island nation of Sri Lanka has acquired a reputation as a popular honeymoon destination. From the hill country to the beaches and cultural attractions, romance is always in the air here.
The largest city in Sri Lanka, Colombo, offers many attractions as a honeymoon destination. This diverse and cosmopolitan metropolis has a host of features such as classy restaurants, many shopping opportunities and lively nightlife. Shopping options in Colombo include modern shopping complexes, stores selling handicrafts and of course Pettah – a bazaar-like area where you can buy anything ranging from electronics to stationery. You will also find many cultural attractions such as temples, kovils, mosques and churches. On your evenings you can stroll on Galle Face Green with your loved one and watch the sun set on the horizon.
Kandy and the picturesque hill country of Sri Lanka are always a splendid place for romance. Kandy is nestled amongst three lofty mountain ranges and its location was chosen as a place that could easily be defended, being inaccessible to invaders. Kandy offers a host of attractions for visitors including the greatly venerated Temple of the Tooth and numerous other places of worship. Not to be missed is the renowned Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which features many unusual and exotic varieties of plants and trees.
