Top Places For Entertainment In Ubud – The Quirky Side Of Bali

Ubud is known for its relaxing ambience. If you are looking for wild parties & nightlife then you are looking in the wrong parts of Bali because entertainment in Ubud is not just limited to partying!

1

Cultural Performances

One of Ubud's common tourist attractions, the Royal Palace holds nightly cultural performances, traditional Gamelan music and elaborate dance acts. You find Legong and Barong dance performances here. To catch the best seats it's advisable to come early. The shows usually start at 7 pm and the tickets can be purchased at the entrance.

2

Cycling

Walking through the rice terraces of Ubud is customary but a different way to see the rice terraces would be to bike downhill from Lake Batur to Ubud. The ride is quite convenient and you pass typical Balinese villages where you can stop over and talk to the locals. You will pass a few temples where you can learn more about the culture, tradition and religion of Bali. You can also try out some traditional Indonesian cuisines at the local Warung!

3

White water rafting

The entertainment you find in Ubud is diverse, sprinkle a little bit of adventure and it's going to be one of the best experiences of your life. Even if you have white water rafted before, the adventure you can experience in Ubud is certainly worth a go. There are packages for beginners and advanced rafters, pick your choice and have the time of your life.

4

Nightlife

Hard partying and nightlife is not really Ubud's forté. However, a quirky mix of nightlife and parties can be added to the list of entertainment here. The Jazz Café, XL Shisha Lounge, Bar Luna, CP Lounge and melting Pot are a few of the favourite night time entertainment spots in Ubud. The nightlife in Ubud is laid back and friendly unlike what you will experience in the South of Bali. You do have a variety of night entertainment here but it's not really what the town is famous for.

5

Massages

A Balinese massage is an entertainment of its own. You will be able to get one at the hotel you are staying in or there are plenty of places offering these heavenly massaging treatments. Find accommodation at an Ubud Hotel that offers easy access to the best entertainment spots in town. Many travellers prefer to stay at Alila Ubud Bali since it is aptly located away from the town's commotion but close enough to travel with ease. In order to completely digest your experience in Ubud, getting a relaxing Balinese massage is a must. Get a traditional Balinese massage and complete body treatment where a facial mask and body creams are used. The water bath that follows is to simply die for and will relax each and every muscle of your body. The best time to treat yourself to a massage is on arrival after a long plane ride, after sightseeing or a day before you head home after your trip.
