The Red Coats and the colonist used this to fight against each other, this was the superior weapon of that century. The musket was not just used for war, colonist also used this as a tool for hunting and getting animals for food, even though there was food you could buy at the market. But! There was tax on the food and colonist did not want to pay the extra money for it. While hunting, they are able to get a kill and not have to pay a cent for the food.
