The continental United States isn't particularly known for wildlife viewing. But despite that there are still some very good wildlife viewing destinations there which may not cost you a fortune.

It has huge herds of bison and elk but the main wildlife highlight in Yellowstone is an amazing animal that inspires awe and fear in mankind. It is the elusive grey wolf.

Few animals are as elusive or sought after as the elusive wolf. Yellowstone is the best place to see wolves in the world and is probably the only place when you have a high chance of spotting them. The wolf population is around a 100, which is one of the highest densities on the planet. They were re-introduced and ever since have thrived due to a large number of prey animals like elk, bison, and moose. There are several packs. The best place to spot them is the legendary Lamar Valley. There are a couple of packs in the area that take advantage of a large number of prey animals. People spot them almost every day during the mornings and evening. They have been spotted hunting, eating and fighting with grizzlies. Other good places in Yellowstone to spot them include Hayden Valley and Swan Lake Flats.

Other wildlife highlights include one of the largest populations of grizzlies in the continental United States. They have been present in the park for a long time, and they are a symbol of Yellowstone. People have reported daily sightings of them. The best place to see them is Dunraven Pass, followed by Lamar and Hayden Valley. Black bears are also very numerous. Some consider the Tower Roosevelt area as the best black bear viewing destination in United States. Yellowstone also has tons of iconic American animals including elk, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and the worlds largest population of bison.

The Grand Teton has a huge population of bears. Black bears are spotted very frequently. One person saw seven different black bears all within walking distance. They are in high number and are very frequently photographed. Grizzly bears are also very common They are spotted frequently on specific roads. Cubs are also frequently spotted. Some people have been to Yellowstone and Grand Teton and have only seen bears in the Grand Teton National Park.

Moose are very common in Grand Teton National Park, much more so than Yellowstone. They are spotted very frequently wallowing in the bodies of water like swamps, marshes, and ponds. Many people spot moose here more commonly than Yellowstone.

Other wildlife highlights include a large number of elk, wolves, and bison. Many people say that general game like moose, elk, and bison are sighted more here than in Yellowstone. But its wildlife, so you never know.

But not only does it offer beautiful landscapes and breathtaking hikes, it also offers great viewing of one of America's most sough after and feared predators: the grizzly bear.

Glacier National Park has one of the highest if not the highest densities of grizzly bears in the continental United States.This high density makes the bears easy to spot.They are frequently spotted with their cubs. The highest density of bears reside in the Many Glacier area, where grizzlies are frequently spotted due to high density and habituation. They are often far away. People have reported daily grizzly bear sightings in the Many Glacier Area of Glacier National Park.

Other highlights of Glacier National Park is towering glaciers and mountains. It also has beautiful lakes and very good hikes. Other wildlife highlights include a good population of black bears, which are also spotted frequently in the Many Glacier Area. Another highlight is a large population of moose. Glacier National Park is probably the best place other than Maine to see moose in continental United States. They are frequently spotted in all the marshes in the park. Another very impressive highlight is the large population of wolverines. There are 45 in the park, which is an extremely high density for a park of Glacier National Park's size. The Highline Trail is claimed by some to be the best place to see wolverines in the world.

Rocky Mountain National Park is Colorado's most famous park, and not without reason. It has beautiful snow-capped peaks and crystal clear lakes, all allowing for the best and highest quality landscape photography. But not only is Rocky Mountain National Park known for its beautiful scenery but is also known for its large population of wildlife, especially elk.

Elk are very numerous in Colorado, the most residing in Rocky Mountain National Park. The elk population here is very high, even higher than Yellowstone. Elk are very easily view able here, especially during the rutting season in September. The elk are busy rutting and are unaware of their human observers. They have been known to fight on the trails and on the roads. The elks are very habituated to human presence and people have reported spitting them up close very day.

Other highlights in Rocky Mountain National Park includes breathtaking scenery with tall and impressive peaks and beautiful lakes. Other wildlife highlights include a large population of coyotes which are used to human presence. they have been spotted hunting up close. There are also a good amount of black bears, which are most frequently spotted in the back country. Though they are not spotted too frequently, there are more mountain lions in Rocky Mountain National Park than molst other national parks in U.S They are occasionally spotted, more so than in other parks.

Sequoia? You're probably thinking trees. While there are trees, Sequoia has the largest and most view able population of black bears in California, if not the entire continental United States of America.\

Black bears, the world's most common bear are very numerous and easily view able in the Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Mountains of eastern California. While there are large populations of black bears in many places in United States, they are not habituated to human presence. The bears in Sequoia are habituated to people, so they will do their thing right in front of people. They have been known to suckle, graze, and even hunt in front of people in Sequoia National Park. The best time to see bears in May because they are coming down to lower elevations. June is also very good, and they can be spotted all the way till August. After that the chances are much less to spot them. The best area to spot them is in the Giant Forest, where there is the largest population of habituated bears. The crescent meadow trail is the best trail to spot them and Dorst Campground is the best camp to see them. Peeople have spotted up to 33 bears in 3 days in the giant forest, probably the highest in the entire continental United States.

Other highlights of Sequoia is the large and beautiful Sequoia trees. Other wildlife highlights include deer and some years ago there was a mountain lion spotted every day around the Dorst Campsite.
