Best Prime Lenses for Micro 4/3rds

Lots of people are switching to the smaller and more compact micro 4/3rds bodies and cameras. Here are the best prime lenses to go with your new micro 4/3rds cameras.

Olympus 300mm F4

Olympus 300mm F4

Olympus claims that the Olympus M. Zuiko 300mm Pro F4 is the sharpest and best lens they have ever made. And based on the sample images I have seen, I am inclined to agree. The sharpness of the photos is just mind bobbling. Since this is part of the micro 4/3rds system the zoom is actually equivalent 600mm. It is a prime lens. This is Olympus's only lens in the micro 4/3rds system that has image stabilization built in to the lens. Combined with the OM-D E-M1 and OM-D E-M5 mark ii, there is sync stabilization, meaning the stabilization will work in both the lens and the camera. Working together the camera and the lens achieve six axis image stabilization, the most powerful ever. It is compatible with the 1.4 teleconverter which can make it reach a shocking 840mm. The only downside of this lens is its extremely heavy weight of 4.8 pounds. For more information about this beauty check Amazon.

Here are some extremely sharp sample images taken by Robin Wong with the OM-D E-M1.

The Panasonic LUMIX G 25mm f/1.7 is one of Panasonic's sharpest lenses. This lens is a fixed prime lens. It has the amazing minimum aperture of f 1.7, allowing you to shoot in extremely low-light conditions. This amazing aperture also allows for a beautiful bokeh in the background. Being part of the micro 4/3rds system, this lens's focal length is equivalent to 50mm. This lens is also super lightweight at only 0.27 pounds! You get all of these features at the extremely low price of $239 which is extremely cheap for an F1.7. To learn more about this beautiful lens, see it's Amazon page.

Panasonic Leica 42.5mm f1.2

Panasonic Leica 42.5mm f1.2

Many say the Panasonic Leica 45mm f1.2 is the best and sharpest piece of glass yet in the micro 4/3rds system. This lens is made with leica glass, meaning the sharpness and optics are better than the Panasonic Lumix. The build will also be stronger when Leica glass is used. Since this is Leica glass and the lens is prime, it will make all photos extremely sharp. Being part of the micro 4/3rds system, this lens's zoom is equivalent to 85mm. That type of zoom is shocking for an f 1.2. The F1.2 makes all photos have extremely good bokeh and allows shooting in low light conditions. This lens only weighs 0.94 pounds and it has image stabilization in the lens. For more information about this lens, see Amazon.

The Olympus M.Zuiko 75mm f1.8 is an extremely high quality piece of glass. It has a focal length that is equivalent to 150mm since it is part of the micro 4/3rds system. A 150mm lens with f 1.8 is a very amazing and unique lens. It allows for zoom photos with very good bokeh because of the f1.8 aperture. It can also be used in very low light conditions. All those factors make it a very great wildlife photography lens. It has a full metal build, making it very resistant to weather, another reason this lens can be very good for wildlife photography.
