Gradishar was born and raised in Champion and graduated from Champion High School and went on to play football for The Ohio State University in the early 70's. Former Ohio State head coach Woody Hayes called Gradishar "the best linebacker I ever coached". Gradishar continued football after college as linebacker in one of NFL's best defenses of all time.
