One of the most iconic religious and archeological landmarks located in the vicinity of Tangalle is the Mulkirigala Raja Maha Vihara. Built atop a 200m tall rock, this fascinating temple is accessible through a series of stairs carved into the rock. Once on top of this rock, you will witness the temple with its different compounds and features. Turtles are one of the most fascinating species of marine life, and the waters off Tangalle are home to many turtles. Turtles are known for waddling on to the shore from the water in the night in order to lay their eggs on the beach. The turtle faces great hardship during this endeavor and is one of the most interesting natural phenomenons. You can go turtle watching with one of the many non-profit organizations that carry out these tours, so you can witness just how fascinating and amazing turtles are. But keep in mind that turtles are endangered species and every effort must be taken to ensure that the turtle is not disturbed; this includes not using flash photography as well.
