The Adidas KB8, Kobe Bryant’s first ever signature basketball shoe. Yep, take a good look because that’s where it all started. Thinking about how much hype the Mamba’s previous two Nike sneakers have generated, it’s a pretty astonishing 14 year NBA and sneaker escapade that we’ve all been apart of, with hopefully a handful left to come.

Nike Kobe 9 Elite - 2015

Nike Kobe 9 Elite - 2015

For the colorways that make up the Kobe 9 Elite Collection, Kobe Bryant, lead designer Eric Avar and the Nike design team pulled inspiration from the different muses that drive the 16-time All-Star. ‘Detail’ takes us back to the 1500s, when Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo reigned supreme.

Michelangelo was primarily known for his life-like human sculptures, inspiring art for centuries to follow. The ‘Detail’ Kobe 9 Elite features a marbleized look on the upper and outsole, with a neutral palette of white, grey and black giving the shoe a timeless feel.

Kobe 9 Elite is packed with premium performance, highlighted by key technologies such as Flyknit, Flywire and Lunarlon. Avar’s goal was to enhance the foot’s natural movements, while providing strength, durability and speed.

The Nike Kobe 4 served as Kobe Bryant’s fourth signature sneaker under the Nike Basketball umbrella and was designed by Eric Avar. The Kobe 4 featured various technologies at the time of its releases including a carbon fiber shank, a Lunar Foam midsole, and the popular Nike Flywire. This lightweight silhouette also incorporated Kobe’s stealth logo on the tongue and his signature on the heel. This shoe is famously known for being the sneaker that assisted kobe on his route to becoming a 4-time NBA Champion and a first time NBA Finals MVP.

adidas EQT Elevation - 1997

adidas EQT Elevation - 1997

Back in 1997, an impossibly young Kobe Bryant wowed basketball fans everywhere with his performance in the 1997 NBA Dunk Contest. And as he did this, he was wearing a pair of purple adidas PEs, the same sneakers that provide the inspiration for this new EQT Elevation colorway.

Called “1997 Dunk Contest,” these adidas EQT Elevation sneakers are pretty much duplicates of the PE that Kobe wore 16 years ago. The mostly purple upper is joined by jagged hits of white and black, as well as dark yellow adidas logo circles. - See more at: http://www.refinedguy.com/2013/08/15/1997-dunk-contest-adidas-eqt-elevation-sneakers-pictures/#sthash.ZeUrOys3.dpuf

Nike Air Zoom Kobe V - 2009

Nike Air Zoom Kobe V - 2009

The true low-cut Zoom Kobe V entered the world with a bang, introduced on Christmas Day via the "Chaos" edition, which featured foil-like panels as well as a subtly red-spattered midsole, perhaps reflecting on the fate of Kobe's on-court victims. Red boot-type laces finished them off lovely—there would be way more makeups to come, but you always remember the first.

Nike Zoom Kobe III - 2007

Nike Zoom Kobe III - 2007

These were the kicks that Kobe rocked during the 2007-2008 campaign during which he earned the highly coveted NBA MVP trophy and led the Lakers to the NBA Finals.

Personally using these kicks as my go-to pair for outdoor play, I will endorse the shoe as being light, stable, and comfortable. I have played with them indoors as well, which is clearly the intended surface for the shoe, but regardless, it’s not hard to see why Kobe had such high praise for his third signature sneaker.

Kobe 11 - January 2016

Kobe Bryant’s Nike Kobe 11 will first launch on January 9th, 2016 in a University Red, Metallic Gold, and Black color scheme. Following its first release, there were also LA Lakers, Bruce Lee, and Easter colorways. The shoe is another classic low-top and is reported to be designed by legendary Tinker Hatfield.

Kobe X Elite - 2015-16

The Kobe X Elite EXT is made with flexible, responsive cushioning designed to win championships. An embossed leather upper with a blown-out Kobe logo and chrome accents reflect to his maniacal obsession with being the best.
