Attractions along Chao Phraya River – Verdant Passage of Magical Memories

Asiatique the Riverfront

This is Bangkok's newest rage in shopping venues; best of all it is located right next to the Chao Phraya River. The area is easily accessible just a few minutes by boat or taxi; it is also home to the famous Sky Wheel which offers expansive views of Bangkok city. Asiatique is open daily between 5 pm to midnight. You will find free boat rides on offer from Sathorn Central Pier to Asiatique, daily from 5 pm to 11.30 pm.

The Holy Rosary Church

This historical Roman Catholic Church was built by Portuguese seafarer's way back in 1787. The local name for the monument is Wat Kalawan – wat meaning temple in Thai. If you are a culture buff head on over to the church between 8 am to 7.30 pm Monday to Saturday and 8 am to Noon on Sundays. Also sitting next to the Chao Phraya River and close to the church is the River City Shopping Mall. Just one of the stops to make when indulging in a relaxing Chao Phraya River Cruise; there are in fact many fine river cruise options to choose from. Make sure you select the best; one that offers you a tour of vintage Thailand along the flowing waters of the Chao Phraya River. Chinatown

Chinatown is where you should head over for an authentic taste of olden day Bangkok. The age old hustle and bustle, over crowded shops and riot of smells and colours still remain. Located along the Chao Phraya River Chinatown is quite active come evening; for that is when its many food kiosks get busy with hundreds of patrons. Pak Khlong Market is a must visit for a variety of goods and excellent day of shopping. What's more the colourful flower market there promises to lift your spirits and help you enjoy the day amidst friendly vibes.

The Santa Cruz Church

This too is a Roman Catholic Church built by the Portuguese in the 1700's. Since then the church has been renovated many times. The church is open all day for visitors to explore and charges no fee.

Wat Pho – Temple of the Reclining Buddha

This is a must see iconic attraction in Bangkok. It is by far one of the largest temples in the city proudly housing the 46 metre long gold leaf covered statue of the reclining Buddha. Wat Pho is also home to Thailand's premier massage school; one of the best places to get a rejuvenating Thai massage. The temple is open to visitors daily from 8 am to 5 pm and charges a nominal fee. Remember to dress modestly.
