The Handmade Home

"College sweethearts and parents to three, when Jamin and Ashley Mills began creating their home together, they felt limited by to-the-trade only options and lots of rules. Who made them up, anyway?

With a BFA in art and Graphic Design, Ashley began applying all that she knew in the world of design to their home, and together they discovered a true passion. Combined with his own love for business, building, and creating, Jamin soon quit his day job to join her. They now work together running their business as a team, and happily breaking the rules together.

Their mantra is to stop pining away for the perfect home, and make the house they live in now, the one that they love. Their little corner of the internet has grown, and here is where they love sharing their ideas and lifestyle inspiration with wonderful readers on their blog every day.

They now offer design services for others, and have launched their own product line, found exclusively at The Handmade Home Studio. Here, you’ll find one of a kind original textiles, wallpapers, paper goods, housewares, apparel, and found pieces, created or curated exclusively by Ashley and Jamin.

The authors of four books, they’ve worked with top brands such as Mars Pet Care, La-Z-Boy, Ryobi, Ridgid, The Home Depot, Martha Stewart, AOL, Hoover, Thompsons Waterseal, Cabot, Nabisco, Verizon, Dutchboy, and Tervis.

Their work has captured the attention of media outlets like Better Home and Gardens, Cottages and Bungalows, Country Living, Redbook, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Nate Berkus Show, Dr. Oz’s The Good Life, Good Housekeeping and the Today Show, to name a few."

Elizabeth Ferree, wife and mother to five children. I began “The Life as a Home Mom” as a way of keeping a journal for the husband to read when he went off to Iraq, after that I just got hooked and never wanted to stop sharing all the adventures of our family with the readers, it was also a way of keeping the rest of the family in the loop. In 2007 we got out of the military, moved to Missouri and started living the Civilian lifestyle. I won’t lie, there’s been some pretty hard times, but some fun ones too. This blog will show you the bumps, bruises and laughter of parenthood, along with a few tips/reviews and giveaways. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in 2012 out in Indiana and have been searching for a job in social media and/or public relations. We had our last child in 2013 just before I moved to California with the kids.

She Smiles Within

Living Authentically. Living Boldly. Living Balanced. A great lifestyle website for women to live the lives they are meant to live. It's got a great style in the website design itself, a strong message without at all seeming on the fringe. I'm putting this into my Feedly to keep up with. They use #SheSmiles as their hashtag.

The blogger and founder is Mellissa, the visionary of She Smiles Within a blog for women who desire to create happy lives. "This is where we are living authentically, boldly and balanced! I write for a community of women of all ages and backgrounds. I touch on topics of faith, entrepreneurial pursuits, life balance, exploring new hobbies, affordable fashion, creating awesome meals, taking care of our health and everything in between."

She was born and raised in Kansas City, received her bachelor’s degree in Business and Human Resource Mgmt. and an MBA with emphasis in Health Service Leadership from Park University. For the past 10 years she's spent the majority of her career in Banking and Finance with the later years working in sales and marketing for a Health Insurance company but she quit that job.

I’m a big advocate for people following their dreams and entrepreneurial pursuits and I’m currently working to author a book that supports just that. She Smiles Within is what I enjoy! An opportunity to share my life, the good, the bad, the extraordinary and the ugly and encourage women to take full advantage of Life. Twitter is @SheSmilesWithin

Lipgloss and Crayons -

Thank you to McCann’s Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal® and The Motherhood for sponsoring this conversation about our morning routine. Opinions are my own.

Real talk.  Mornings in our home have been a bit of a challenge (I know, any other parents who have to get themselves and their little ones out the door are nodding in solidarity right now.)  Both my husband and I work early in the morning, and have to be out the door before 7 am.  And yes, that includes getting Lydia to ... continue reading...
