Barry Sanders should be remembered as the best NFL running back of all time because he was the best runner in NFL history. Even though he retired early he would have been on track to have the most rushing yards of all time. He has career stats of 15,269 rushing yards and 99 touchdowns.
Walter Payton shall be remembered as one of the greatest running backs of all time because he is one of the toughest downhill runners of all time. He has career stats of 16,726 rushing yards and 110 rushing touchdowns. Also, he has 4,538 receiving yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. Also, he has won and led the Chicago Bears to two super bowl rings during his career.
Emmit Smith was a great NFL running back and is in the top 3 because of his perseverance and he is also the all-time leading rusher in NFL history. He had career stats of 18,355 rushing yards and 164 rushing touchdowns. Also, he had 3,324 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns also. He is going to remembered for a long time and it will be a while before anyone surpasses him for the most rushing yards of all time.
Eric Dickerson is one of the best running backs of all time who played for the St. Louis Rams. He had career stats of 13,259 rushing yards and 90 rushing touchdowns. Also, he had 2,137 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. He shall be remebered by the way he played and his stats show that.
Marshall Faulk had a great career and deserves to be on this list. He had 12,279 rushing yards with and additional 6,875 receiving yards and 100 rushing touchdowns and 36 receiving touchdowns. Also, he attended two super bowls and led his team to a victory in 1999. Marshall Faulk shall be remembered as one of the greatest running backs of all time.
Ladianian Tomlinson deserves to be on this list because he had a great career. His career stats were 13,684 rushing yards and 145 touchdowns. Also, he had 4,772 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. He has some of the best career stats of all time and was a double threat out of the backfield.
Adrian Peterson is a veteran running back in today's NFL game and he is an amazing athlete. He went through so much diversity and missed a season because his son passed away but he came right back with a great season. His career stats are 11,675 rushing yards and 97 career touchdowns.
Bo Jackson was a Two-Way professional athlete and was a very good football player. With career stats of 2,782 yards and 16 touchdowns in only four seasons there is no doubt he should be number 8.
Jerome Bettis was one of the bigger backs who had a lot of power and deserves to be on this list for his hardwork. He has a career stat of 13,662 rushing yards and 91 rushing touchdowns and also has a super bowl ring to add to his outstanding career as one of the best NFL running backs of All-Time.
Clinton Portis who spent his NFL days on the Washington Redskins deserves to be on the list due to his career stats. His stats are 9,923 career rushing yards and he had 75 touchdowns which concludes to a great career and a great NFL running back and one of the best of All-Time.
