10 New Generation Contemporary Directors of Mollywood

Kerala was the first film industry where the South-Indian new wave movement had started. After many decades of successful quality film production, now Malayalam film industry has witnessed a new generation movement which lead by some new young directors. Here is the list of 10 best among them.

Rosshan Andrrews

Rosshan Andrrews is an Indian film director who is predominantly working in Malayalam cinema.His first movie was the 2005 Malayalam movie Udayananu Tharamstarring Mohanlal and Meena. After the success of this movie Rosshan Andrrews directed another movie in 2006 named Notebook.This movie had newcomers Skanda and Roma in the lead roles.

His next movie was the 2010 hit Evidam Swargamanu scripted by James Albert with Mohanlal in the lead role. Following this he directed Mohanlal-starrer Cassanova, a movie highly anticipated amongst Mohanlal fans which was released on 26 January 2012. The budget of the film was 210 million an expensive amount relative to the average budget for Malayalam movies.

Rajeev Ravi

Rajeev Ravi is an Indian cinematographer, director and film producer from Kochi (former Cochin), Ernakulam district, Kerala state.

After graduating from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 1997, he started his career by assisting in the Malayalam-language film.Rajeev debuted as a director with the Malayalam film Annayum Rasoolum (2013).Rajeev Ravi's second feature film, Njan Steve Lopez has released on 8 August 2014

Rajesh Pillai

Rajesh Pillai is an Indian film director working in Malayalam cinema. He began his film career in 2005 by directing Hridayathil Sookshikkan. His second film Traffic, written by brothers Bobby and Sanjay was released in 2011. The film has its narrative in a hyperlink format is inspired from an actual event that happened in Chennai. The film was a notable success and is widely regarded as one of the defining movies of the Malayalam New Wave.

Arun Kumar Aravind

Arun Kumar Aravind is an Indian film director, editor and producer who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. he started his carrer by Cocktail (2010) and continued with Ee Adutha Kaalathu (2012), Left Right Left (2013) and 1 by two (2014)

Lijo Jose Pellissery

Aashiq Abu is an Indian film director and producer best known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He started out as an ad filmmaker. He made his directional debut with Daddy Cool (2009). He's best known for his films Salt N' Pepper (2011) and 22 Female Kottayam (2012).

Sameer Thahir

Sameer C Thahir is an Indian cinematographer, writer and director known for his work in Malayalam-language films.

Vineeth Sreenivasan

He started off his film career as a playback singer for musicals, as well as music albums such as Coffee @ Mg Road. Vineeth made his acting debut in Cycle (2008). His third film was Thira (2013) in which he introduced his younger brother Dhyan Sreenivasan.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon is an Indian film director, mainly of Malayalam films. His directorial debut North 24 Kaatham (2013) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam and Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Film. His next film Sapthamashree Thaskaraha (2014) also received positive reviews from critics, and became a hit at the box office.
