Broken/Dead Link Building
A link building method which benefits both the link prospect and the link builder as well. Contact a prospect if you find a "dead" link on their site, and if it is relevant to your niche, ask that he/she could opt to change the link to redirect on an "alive" or active website (your site).

Linker Outreach
Linker Outreach is done by engaging with the people who share links from content rich sites. You can start by looking for a link-worthy content, then choosing a social platform to share you post. Then, wait for other Linkers (people who usually look for rich contents like you) to share your link with their circles. If your link was successfully shared, then that wil be the time to engage and pitch for a guest blog.

Reverse Link Building Strategies
This is a great strategy for those who like to get a bit creative. Reverse engineering strategies are those in which you find what's worked in the past and redo them. For example, if a competitor created a badge for the "top niche blogs of 2007", and hasn't done one since, recreate the list for 2012 and reach out to the bloggers who have the old badge. Tell them about the new list and ask to replace the old badge with your newly updated one!

Anchor Text Reclamation: Clean Up Your Messy Anchor Texts
Anchor Text Reclamation is a very simple thing that we do in SEOTeky. The concept is simple, research for those links that aren't giving you strong value in terms of anchor texts used to link on your url. Email this people and ask them if they can change the text used for your website - Viola!

"Alternative" Link Building Ideas
I've just read through a billion link building documents and my brain is now fried. Whilst it's cooling down I thought I'd put together a list of link building techniques that I haven't read before. They probably exist somewhere but anyway… EDIT My internet buddies below have added some real gems: Right well that was fun.

Blogging Competitions
Launch a blogging competition where bloggers have to post content about your niche topic, and the best entries win products/credit/prizes. A condition of entry is that they mention the post is part of a competition run by your site, and link back to your target page. Tell them that one of the judging criteria is the amount of social shares a post receives, to incentivise secondary sharing and hopefully pick up additional ‘competitors’.

Give stuff away!
Hosting or offering up prizes for other sites to run competitions is an excellent tactic in order to build strong links from related blogs and forums. This works especially well for eCommerce sites and it doesn't have to cost much either, not everybody can afford to give away an iPod every week. Using low value or end of line products specific to your industry work just as well. If you can get your giveaway featured in the right places the links literally flood in.

Help clean up the web and get a link
Find websites that have been compromised and let them know. For example, an old footprint used to be "Buy Xanax Online Without Prescription" so you could type that exact search to find sites that were compromised and let them know. After they fixed it you could ask for a link as a thank you.
Enjoy!

Quality Niche Directories
This is basic, but there are always a few out there you can get. The reason they're worth adding to the list is because they're exceptionally easy to get; the only difficult part is finding them. This is where creative search queries for prospecting come into play!

Duplicate Content/Title Tag LinkBuilding
Using SEOMoz crawler, reach out to your prospects and communicate them the errors and warnings their sites have such as Duplicate content or Title tag. You scratched their back, hopefully they will scratch your back too with a link.
