La Boqueria

La Boqueria
Located off La Rambla, the mercado La Boqueria (or "mercat" in Catalan) is a glorious place to stop for a snack or ingredients for an authentic dinner.
Pura Brasa
Though it's not a vegetarian restaurant, the vegan meal I had at Pura Brasa was delicious, fresh, and well-crafted. I'd definitely suggest it, especially if you're tooling around near main attractions. I visited the Las Arenas location, but there are 3 in Barcelona and one in Bilbao. The roasted corn and peanut butter was amazing, and I loved the asparagus with romesco sauce.

Fully vegan, reasonably priced, daily specials. Gets busy, so aim for lunch and get there before 2 pm. Try the_ crema catalana _for dessert! One reviewer notes that it's right off a main pickpocket area, so keep an eye on your valuables. More reviews here and here.

If you run out of cruelty-free and vegan toiletries while you're in Barcelona or want to pick up some snacks, this is the place to go! They even have vegan shoes, if you wear through the ones you brought. They don't sell produce, but they do have tofu, seitan, and frozen foods if you're staying in a hostel, hotel, or apartment with a kitchen.

This fully vegetarian spot has been open for a few years, and has become a local favorite. Treats include gazpacho, vegan quiche, seitan sausages, vegan cakes and pastries, and organic wines. One perk that's great for travelers? Free wi-fi! Downside - no credit cards (as of Nov. 2014), and very small, so try to visit in off-peak hours. Read lots of great reviews here.

If you're an English-speaking hostel dweller, you'll probably be glad to know about this place. They sell specialty products, vegan staples, Quorn products, preserves, treats, and more. Basically, if you've been on the road for a while and you're missing home, it's worth a trip. Also, you can exchange English books for credit toward titles you haven't read yet. There's a second location in the town of Sitges, just southwest of Barcelona.
