Issues and Trends in Reading

Reading Rockets is a national multimedia project that offers a wealth of research-based reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help young children learn how to read and read better. Our reading resources assist parents, teachers, and other educators in helping struggling readers build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

In the course of working with thousands of children in the public schools, giving lectures, teaching at the university level, and consulting with parents, we have experienced first hand the importance of learning to read.

FreeReading is an open-source instructional program that helps educators teach early literacy. FreeReading contains a 40-week scope and sequence that can supplement an early literacy core or basal program.
