The latest (March 2010) pocket camcorder from Kodak looks like a winner. While it does not have the larger LCD screen or Macro capabilities of the Zi8, it is still full HD at 1080p AND waterproof up to 10ft. It also has image stabilization as well can take a lick or two if you have kids (or are into extreme sports).
The Zi8 records HD video at 1080P at 16:9 aspect ratio. It does not have built-in memory, but can take up to 32GB SDHC cards. It comes with rechargeable batteries, and includes software for copying and sharing clips on your computer. It also has HDMI port for playing clips on your TV.
The Vado shoots at 720P HD and can record up to 2 hours in its built in 4GB memory. It comes with rechargeable battery pack, HDMI and USB ports for playing and copying clips. Also included is the Vado Central Software that makes it easy to edit and share clips on Youtube and other online sharing sites.
