India has the history of 101 years in Cinema. We entered in to the world of visual magic since from the Lumieres' age. This list is about the major break-through in the history of Indian cinema.

Raja Harishchandra (1913) was the first full made film of India.
It was directed by Dada Saheb Phalke. He is considered as the father of Indian Cinema.

The first sound film of India was Alam Ara (1931) which was produced by Imperial Film Company owned by A. Irani. It was also directed by A. Irani.

It was written and directed by Baburao Painter.

The Tamil Actor Sivaji Ganeshan was honored with Best Actor award from Afro-Asian Film Festival held in Egypt.

Sholay was the first 70 mm film shot completely in India.
It was directed by Ramesh Sippy and starred by the famous actor Amitabh Bachhan. It had changed the grammar of Indian commercial movies.
