Bollywood is the largest movie industry in this world. Yeah...it is bigger than Hollywood. And of course there are award ceremonies too...and not just one...but many. Here's a list of top 8 movie awards in India or rather say Bollywood.

Filmfare Awards

The Filmfare Awards are presented annually by Filmfare magazine, of The Times Group to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Hindi language film industry of India. The Filmfare ceremony is the oldest and most prominent film events dedicated to Hindi films in India. The awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards.

National Film Awards

The National Film Awards is one of the most prominent film award ceremonies in India. Established in 1954, it has been administered, along with the International Film Festival of India and the Indian Panorama, by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973.

Declared for films produced in the previous year across the country, they hold the distinction of awarding merit to the best of Indian cinema overall, as well as presenting awards for the best films in each region and language of the country. Due to the national scale of the National Film Awards, it is considered the Indian equivalent of the American Academy Awards.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The recipient is honoured for their "outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema" and is selected by a committee consisting of eminent personalities from the Indian film industry. As of 2014, the award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of INR1,000,000.
First presented in 1969, the award was introduced by the Government of India to commemorate Dadasaheb Phalke's contribution to Indian cinema.

They were first held in Mumbai until 2004, when the ZCA went international and had their ceremony in Dubai, and in following years in London, Mauritius, Malaysia, and London again in 2008.

The Stardust Awards is an award ceremony for Hindi movies, which congratulate the superstars of the new generation who are making an impact on the future. It is sponsored by Stardust magazine.
The awards first began in 2003, by the annual Stardust movie magazine. The awards celebrate new talent in the industry as well as congratulating the current stars.

Star Guild Awards

The Star Guild Awards (previously known as the Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Award) is an accolade given by the Apsara Producers Guild to recognize excellence in film and television. Originated by filmmaker and scholar Amit Khanna, the Star Guild Awards have been one of the major award events since 2004. The 22-karat gold statuette was sculpted and designed by the jewellery brand Tanishq and was "inspired by the rich heritage of one of India's most treasured possessions - the Ajanta and Ellora Caves."
