We're better when we work together

May issue on Leadership of the iTDi blog! In my article I share postures and practices that my sister Sosô and I have learned and that have been both affective and effective in our leading of the language school for children we direct in São Paulo, Brazil.

This is a space for me to share and reflect on my journey as a Kindergarten teacher. I am most passionate about play, inquiry and technology. I believe that relationships matter and that they are the key to success in the classroom.

Its Spring and that means one thing in our 1:1 iPad classroom...creative technology projects to finish out the year STRONG! The spring time for me brings some stress as I get ready for end of the year testing, TPRI, IPT testing for bilingual students, LPACS and the list goes on and on.

This year I have been using Edmodo with some of my groups to encourage them to do further practice out of class. I have been fairly successful with adult learners but not so with my teenage groups, who shy away from any type of homework whatsoever.

This was not the first train the trainer course I attended but may be the magic was the magicians I (we) met there. I attended SLTEP, a two-week train the trainer program ran by Sabanci University School of Languages. Two years ago I completed my PhD research , which investigated picturebook illustrations, children's literary response and language development in a foreign language.
