Best Dragons In Our Favourite Movies

One of the greatest myth's that we want to believe is the existence of dragons. Dragons are a part of every fairytale story or fantasy movies. These big beasts remain most popular among fictional animals who continue to amaze us with their legendary wings and their breath of fire. Here is a list of our favourite movie dragons that we love and admire.

Dragon in Shrek

Dragon first appears while guarding the derelict castle which serves as Princess Fiona’s prison. While searching for the princess, Shrek and Donkey become separated within the castle. Dragon traps Donkey on a stone pinnacle, intent on eating him so many other intruders. Out of desperation, Donkey smooth talks Dragon with compliments, causing her to become infatuated and spare his life.

Toothless in How To Train Your Dragon

Toothless is the name of Hiccup's Dragon in both the book series and film. In the books, Toothless is a young Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus, although it is originally believed he is a Common or Garden Dragon, while he's a larger, black Night Fury in the film adaptation.

Smaug in The Hobbit

Smaug was a fire drake in the Third Age. One of the last of its kind to be considered 'great', he laid waste to Dale and captured Erebor, the Lonely Mountain, from the Dwarves. For about two hundred years, he hoarded Erebor's treasures before a company of dwarves managed to drive him out of hiding, after which the dragon was slain by Bard the Bowman in Lake-town.

Draco in Dragonheart

Draco is a red-scaled dragon depicted in the first Dragonheart movie as one of the protagonists Draco
. He once shared his heart with a spoiled, twisted child. That action he soon regretted however, as the child was a tyrant and a dictator to his people. Years later he fixed what he did wrong....

Mushu in Mulan

Mushu is a red dragon, and the main deuteragonist from both Disney's 1998 feature film Mulan and its sequel. He is the titular character's closest companion throughout the Mulan series, acting as Mulan's guardian and protector. He is voiced by Eddie Murphy in his first appearance and Mark Moseley afterwards.

Saphira in Eragon

She may be a dragon, but she's one of the most important characters in the book. In fact, you could make the case that, although this book is called Eragon, without a Saphira there'd be no Eragon. Dude would still be in Carvahall, digging turnips with a spoon or whatever it was he was up to. Don't forget that it is Saphira's choice to find Eragon, and that his heroism is only the result of whatever dragon-y insights she had into his character. More than anyone, Saphira is responsible for unleashing the potential in her partner-in-flight.

Hungarian Horntail in Harry Potter

A Hungarian Horntail was to be faced during the First Task of the Triwizard Tournament, in an effort to retrieve a Golden egg. Harry Potter had to face it after selecting, at random, a tiny model depicting the Horntail from a bag. He Summoned his Firebolt broomstick to him and used it to maneuver around the dragon to retrieve the egg. It is stated that Ron Weasley's brother Charlie helped transport the dragon from Romania
