Beautiful writing that evokes the soul is worth more than the highest amount of money that can ever be doled out. Some of the famed poets and writers of the Tamil language are listed out, and highly recommended here, for their works are truly heart-rending and even more!

Thiruvalluvar

Thiruvalluvar is the most celebrated Tamil poet, and his works are so philosophical and imbibe true beauty that they are inculcated in students' curriculum in schools all over Tamil Nadu state. There are even contests held where participants must chant his verses from memory!

Kambar / Kamban

This extremely gifted poet was personally recruited by the then Chola king to be the royal poet, though his roots trace back to humble, low origins. Kamban is what he's called in casual Tamil and his version of the legendary Ramayana is tremendously famous though it is a retelling of the legend in Kamban's version.

Agreat poet and a gifted writer, he is easily recognizable by his unique title of 'Kaviarasu,' meaning he is the king of poets. He has won the National Film Award (of India) for Best Lyrics in 1969. He's almost like a household name even now.

"In January 2015, he announced that he is giving up writing after he came under attack for blasphemy from Hindutva and caste outfits for his Tamil novel Madhorubagan which was first published in 2010." Then again, he has written other works, too, that seem to be wonderful reflections of his literacy skills.
