Of the towns I visited on my Alaska vacation, Skagway, with a fulltime population of just over 900, was by far my favorite. It just had that "at home" feel to it, small, old time, quiet, I really liked it. Skagway was one of the starting points for the great Klondike gold rush of 1898.

While in Skagway, Alaska during our cruise, we decided to try the White Pass & Yukon Route railway to go up the mountain to White Pass. It was a really cool adventure that took us from Skagway up to the US/Canada border and back.
