Framing Rock n’ Roll Fame: 5 Rock Star Film Biographies.

A biopic is an entertaining way to peek into the rock star fantasy world so far from our own. Here are 5 rock star biopics that are so much more than just a crew sitting on a tour bus.

Sid and Nancy

The fire between Sex Pistol’s bassist Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen could be seen from miles away. Like any large fire, theirs was powerful and destructive. The film “Sid and Nancy” is a biopic of two lovers in the grittiest punk scene around.

Morrissey

This biopic is still in the works, but its potential rests upon the name. Morrissey is one of music’s greatest talents. Even if this pic is only loosely based, it could be interesting and entertaining, kind of like the Smiths.

The Runaways

Joan Jett and Cherie Currie came of age as mavericks in the rock world. They’ve gained icon status as women who broke standards and took the world by storm with their gumption and great music.

Gus Van Sant’s Last Days

This biopic is loosely based on the final days of Kurt Cobain. The main character, Blake, is a look alike of the late rockstar. Many have often wondered what Cobain’s final days looked like and what let him to his suicide, and this film is just another interpretation.

Control

Control is a biopic about Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. This film explores the complications of the everyday stuff like marriage and health, merging with the fantasy life of rock stardom. At some point, one is moved to the peripheral and something dear is lost in the process.
