Speed Reading

A collection of apps and resources to empower you to develop smarter and faster reading habits. *F = Free *F/C = Free & Commercial versions *C = Commercial version only

Spritz (?)

Android - Apple
The time consuming part of reading lies mainly in the actual eye movements from word to word and sentence to sentence. In addition, traditional reading simply takes up a lot of physical space. Spritz solves both of these problems. First, your eyes do not have to move from word to word or around the page that you’re reading. In fact, there’s no longer a page – with Spritz you only need 13 total characters to show all of your content. Fast streaming of text is easier and more comfortable for the reader, especially when reading areas become smaller.

Velocity – $2.99

iOS

Read faster than ever before, one word at a time. Speed read articles from the web at superhuman speeds. Finish your reading list in record time with Velocity.

Acceleread (F/C)

iOS
Maximize your reading speed! Acceleread is the most effective speed reading course for the iPhone and iPad. Learn advanced reading techniques to boost your productivity and save time. Most people read at ⅓ their potential speed, plodding through text and wasting tremendous amounts of time. For most people, reading education effectively ended in 6th grade, leaving them ill-equipped for the demands of modern life. These elementary reading techniques cripple productivity and are a deep source of frustration.

Speed Reading Trainer (F)

Android
This speed reading app is a fun, effective and FREE way to increase your reading abilities. This app uses the fundamentals of metaguiding and viewing exercises to train your eyes to process text quicker. We have also included a diagnostic tool so you can check your progress as you read! A small selection of public domain works has been provided for your reading pleasure and new articles and books are being added frequently! The average adult reads at about 250 words per minutes with a 70% comprehension rate. Students who have used the Ivy Standard system have seen increases of up to 500 WPM in as little as two weeks of use.

AccelaReader (F)

It helps you read faster by flashing words at you using what is called a Rapid Serial Visual Presentation.

Zap Reader (F)

Syllable - $2.99
