Queer Ink

Queer Ink is a compassionate catalyst in the journey towards empowerment. We collaborate with individuals, organizations and communities to be part of our search for queer, new, exciting ways of expression and powerful ways to breakdown discourses, which perpetuate discrimination and narrow worldviews. We focus on the diverse LGBTQI people in India and in bringing the queer, quirky and wonderful into the mainstream.

Queer Ink is a platform for sharing creative ideas and hopes to encourage writers and artists with any new, exciting, queer, fun, out-of-the-box ideas to feel safe and appreciated in expressing themselves.

In January 2013, we officially became India’s first Queer Publisher. Queer Ink Publishing is dedicated to visualizing the diversity that is LGBTI India by embracing a collaborative creative effort to include and share lives of people who choose to lead different lives in mainstream India.

List of LGBT friendly psychiatrists, HIV/AIDS counselors, STD specialists and sexologists in India

The Indian LGBT community often finds itself wanting in professional medical help on account of prevalent homophobia in the medical community that results in adverse situations with alarming frequency. Young gay men and women often find themselves at the mercy of unethical psychiatrists who indulge in the highly controversial and harmful practice of ‘conversion therapy’, counselors are often not trained to deal with LGBT issues, patients of STDs are forced to hide their sexual orientation from their doctors and transgender people who wish to undergo surgery face enormous challenges.

On account of this, and some recent incidences that captured our attention, we’re releasing a list of LGBT friendly medical professionals across India- including psychiatrists, HIV/AIDS counselors, STD specialists and sexologists. The list has been compiled based on suggestions from community members.

Gay Bombay

GayBombay is a self-evolving informal group, a result of like-minded gay people from Mumbai (mainly, but not totally) coming together in good faith to create a safe space for men who are romantically and sexually attracted to men. All of us at GayBombay have experienced the joys and sorrows of being ‘different’.
