Top 10 Attractions in Singapore – The best sites and sounds in Lion City!

The little economic giant and shopping hub of Singapore is a great tourist destination with plenty to see and do. Check out below for some inspiration for your next trip!

1

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is one of the best places to visit to see animals in their natural habitat in Singapore. Located centrally, you can encounter monkeys like the banded langur living on top of the trees. The Malayan pangolin, colugo, plantain squirrel, red-cheeked flying squirrel, and turtles are also common inhabitants. Other species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and anthropoids live here as well. At 163 metres, it is also the highest point in Singapore! If looking for a hotel in Bugis area, the likes of PARKROYAL Corporate are among the sound options to consider.

2

Universal Studios

Located in Resorts World Sentosa, the theme park is one of the prime attractions in Singapore and one of the most widely visited adventure parks in Southeast Asia. Discover over 28 rides with seven themed sections; rides like Battlestar Galactica: Human vs Cylon and Transformers are among the fan favourites.

3

Gardens by the Bay

The spectacular gardens are built on 250 hectares and found near the Marina Reservoir and have three waterfront gardens to explore. The Bay South is the biggest and extends nearly 54 hectares, and the glass greenhouse in the Flower Dome is the largest of its kind in the world!

4

Orchard Road

This 2.2 km road is famous for its high street brands, shopping malls, top-notch restaurants, and luxury hotels. This road is named after the fruit orchards and the pepper and nutmeg plantations that used to cover it in the 1830s. The street showcases the glamorous side of Singapore; the road is alighted with decorations and makes for a pleasant walk by night or day. The sale season, in particular, is a popular time to visit Orchard Road, as a large array of goods can be purchased at unbelievable prices.

5

Singapore Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens in Singapore is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been around for over 160 years. According to TripAdvisor, it is rated as Asia's most visited park and is free from admission charges. The Botanic Gardens have over 10,000 types of flora and fauna covering over 82 hectares of space.

6

Labrador Park

If you would like to see the shy and elusive pangolin, head to Labrador Park! Pangolins are nocturnal creatures, and all eight such varieties of the species are considered endangered. They are hunted in the wild for their meat and scales, which is a key ingredient in Chinese medicine. Other than the pangolin, over 70 species of birds can be found here.

7

Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin is an island in the northeast of mainland Singapore. The Chek Jawa Wetlands is a unique ecosystem where rocky beaches, mangrove swamps and forests line the coastline. Look out for creatures like the red junglefowl, mudskippers and fiddler crabs.
