WCG World Content Audit as of 08-10-2013

What I Learned Driving Across Country (East)

Earlier this summer I wrote a blog post about my adventures traveling from New York to Los Angeles by car, where I lived for a month, working from our LA office. My family flew, and joined me before embarking on an unforgettable 2-week journey back East.

Keep Calm and Go Back to Work...

I'm just back from sabbatical and thrilled to rejoin my colleagues here at W2O Group. As I'm catching up, it's great to see all the things that have happened while I was away. We were ranked the 25 th agency in the world by The Holmes Report, Dave Mihalovic was named COO, and my old desk-mate, Chris Deri, joined us (just before I went away).

Time to Imagine a New Way to Gain Insights - Local is Finally Ready for Prime Time

We no longer refer to analytics in the traditional way. We call what we do "forensic analytics", since we are looking for clues and patterns that will lead to insights that can solve problems or shape behavior for our clients. Within the world of forensic analytics, we work in 3-D.

WCG Represents at the Los Angeles Entertainment Summit

Every year, the Entertainment Merchants Association, including our client, Warner Brothers hosts an entertainment summit and fundraising event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. This year, WCG had the honor of being one of the sponsors. Stephan Merkens and Stephanie Nordstrom represented WCG during the three day event.

EU and Market Access - is change on the horizon or will it fall foul to EU bureaucracy?

EU legislation is no barrel of laughs. Having spent many hours deciphering tobacco and food labelling directives in my previous role as the advocacy officer at the Irish Heart Foundation; I think I'm allowed say that with confidence.

Insights Gleaned from NJ MarCom Presentation

I had the opportunity to attend NJ MarCom's Masterclass and Summer Networking Event recently at Fairleigh Dickinson University. W20's Principal Gary Grates spoke to an audience of communications, marketing, public relations and advertising professionals on how social is changing the business model. Below are a few key points gleaned from Gary's presentation.

Diabetes - Are you thinking multifactorial?

Having spent many years in scientific research, investigating the underlying mechanisms of diabetes and trying to identify new possible ways for treatment, I have developed a great interest for this disease.

Is Your Brand/Organization Being Marginalized?

Shhh. Listen. It's the sound of your company or product or brand (or future) being overtaken. It may be by a new technology. A shift in consumer tastes. A societal change. An internal snafu. A different competitor. A trending topic. Recognizing and preventing marginalization is arguably one of the most challenging realities of business today.

The Importance of Rankings

We're an interesting company. We don't hesitate to share all we know with the world via blogs, books and presentations. Yet, we maintain a humble spirit. We don't focus on our own headlines. We focus on innovating faster than our peers. We don't give up until we have created a unique advantage for our clients.

Introduction to APIs from W2O Labs

Introduction Today, we are going to talk about something that is very near and dear to all of our hearts, Application Programming Interfaces. Now, I know what you are thinking, and I'll concede. You're right! Software integration is quite possibly the most boring thing ever.

PESO and Why Shared Media is Important

Although plenty of studies support the claim, most good marketers just know intuitively that Earned media and WOM (word of mouth) are more impactful marketing vehicles at the individual level than paid advertising... You are significantly more likely to try something because your friend recommended it than because you saw an advertisement.

Why Adam Feuerstein Rules

If you've never heard of Adam Feuerstein, then you must not be in healthcare. For the un-initiated, Feuerstein is a columnist at The Street and writes about healthcare and biotech stocks. A decade or two ago, before the rise of social media, he wouldn't have been that significant a player.

Software, Service and Culture

My joining W2O Group as Chief Technology Officer defines a pivotal point, both for the company and for me personally. I have been a tech entrepreneur since I was 14, starting such enterprises as a modem sales company in the early 90′s all the way to Pick-A-Prof and MyEdu, which served millions of college students during my 14 year run in Ed-Tech.

Headstand as a Life Lesson?

Headstand as a Life Lesson? Two weeks ago, I found myself upside down and scared out of my mind. After 12 years of religiously practicing Bikram yoga, I decided to begin exploring the wonders of the headstand in my power yoga class.

Learning and Profiting From Those We Instruct

Over the course of the past weekend, I took refuge from the unusually hot British summer weather in a country house hotel deep in the lush green countryside. No spa treatments or weddings for me as for most of the rest of the guests; I was leading a seminar on measuring and managing corporate reputation in our always-on world, for a diverse group of Kingston MBA students.

Why the CEO's Voice is More Important Today...and It's Not What You Think

Much has been written and discussed over the last few years on the waning influence CEOs have in their organizations and that employees tend to wield more influence in this social age. The thinking goes that CEOs have lost credibility over the years hitting a nadir during the financial crisis of 2008.

It's Not Me, It's You

"It's not me, it's you" - a familiar relationship phrase you've either used or perhaps even had spoken to you, except you might notice it's significantly altered. In a different type of relationship, that of a client and an agency, the altered phrase should be the one that clients hear from their agencies.

No 'Upside' in Turning Down Reporters' Calls

Here's a scenario I'm guessing happens pretty regularly: a reporter contacts a PR firm to ask a client some questions on a mundane topic, but the company doesn't see any "upside" in it, so it decides to pass. Groans heard all around the PR firm. Why is this so hard, people?

Life Lessons Learned on Playing Fields

As a schoolboy, like many other kids, I played Little League baseball. In high school, I ran cross-country and track. I was never a star athlete. My baseball career ended when I was too old for Little League. And my long distance running times were mediocre, at best.

What I Learned Driving Across Country (West)

This summer I embarked on a crazy road trip adventure. I left New York headed to Los Angeles (solo) where I'm living for the summer, before turning around and driving back home; this time with my family in the car.

Interview with Sri Nagubandi, Former Razorfish SEO Director

With all of the hiring W2O Group/WCG have done recently, we wanted to take a little time to let our partners/customers/employees get to know some of these new employees better. To that end, we are conducting a blog series that asks some of our new employees to answer five questions - some straightforward and some that show our more playful slide.

The Gamification of Influence - Why I Became an Okta Influencer

W2O Group recently introduced Okta as our Enterprise Identity management (EIM) system to enable Single Sign-on (SSO) via Microsoft Active Directory integration and license governance for our internal and SaaS delivered applications and services. Say what?!? Cutting through the techno-speak, Okta makes it very easy, efficient, and cost-effective for I.T.

Ignore Social Media at your own Peril

Jessie Frank was having a horrible day. Frank, who was trying to get home to pick up her daughter from a special camp for type 1 diabetic children, had been waylaid by weather, mechanical issues, rerouting and other delays, as a two-hour flight had turned into an all-day slog.
