This book features a young girl who is frustrated that all of her teachers and classmates mispronounce her name. When she tells her mom that she doesn't want to return to school she teaches her about the musicality behind various cultural names. The purpose of this book is to empower students to embrace their name and take pride in it , especially those that have traditional cultural names. It also teaches students to respect their peer’s names as they are all powerful and unique.

A Resource for Teachers on Helping Students Identify Their Personal Cultural Identity

I am providing a link to a resource that is meant to help teachers guide students in understanding what cultural identity is as well as what they're own cultural identity is. This resource provides a lesson that will help students identify at least 5 elements that make up their own cultural identity, help students reflect on ways that cultural identity affects their outlook on the world, and clarify how the lack of understanding different cultural identities can lead to miscommunication.

It explains why understanding the different learning styles is important and beneficial to student learning. This video breaks down and explains each learning style as well as providing examples. It also gives teachers tips on how they can use this information to help their students succeed academically.

This resource recommends strategies for supporting all students’ religions and cultures, during the winter holidays and year-round. It is important that the classroom remains inclusive during the holiday season and teachers do not exclude or single-out any of their students.
