My Favorite Tennis Games

Here are some of my personal fave games we play for fun. I hope some of these are new to you. I also hope they are as big of a hit with your students as they are with mine. Did you see what I did there??

Roller Derby

This activity is great for large groups regardless of age or playing level. I like it because I see a high level of energy and lots of laughter when I use it. Also a strong element of teamwork, which is sometimes difficult to tease out in such an individual sport.

Hot Seat

Hot Seat is a variation on the Jail Break/Doghouse type of games. I like it because it adds an element of mercy or second chance.

Black Jack

Black Jack is more of a scoring format rather than a specific game. I use this format with lots of other games, activities and challenges to encourage my students to think as well as play. Instead of adding an element of mercy, it adds an element of danger - in a fun way!

Star Catcher

Star Catcher is a tried-and-true large group format that I have recently dusted off for summer camp fun. I had forgotten how much I like it. My students would play this format all day if I let them.

Squirrel Crossing

I have another list featuring my top tennis game recommendations based on player favorites. You will see Squirrel Crossing again there. Another winner good for five or more players, any level.
